Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, has averaged more than 600 million daily active users (DAU) since January this year, Tencent News said Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.

On Chinese New Year's Eve, Feb. 11, Douyin's DAU reached a peak of 692 million, the report said.

The DAU for Douyin's three clients totaled between 680 million and 700 million during the Chinese New Year holiday, the report said, adding that the DAU for Douyin's main client stayed at 490 million-510 million after reaching 580 million on New Year's Eve.

Douyin replaced rival Pinduoduo as the partner for this year's Chinese New Year Gala and had a record RMB 1.2 billion ($180 million) in raffles that day.

Douyin's biggest local competitor, Kuaishou, had an average DAU of 265 million last year, and its DAU peaked at more than 400 million during the Chinese New Year holiday, the report said.

TikTok owner ByteDance last disclosed DAU in September last year, with the company's Chinese CEO Kelly Zhang Nan saying Douyin's three clients had a combined DAU of more than 600 million.

ByteDance will make a big push to commercialize Tik Tok internationally this year, the report said.
