Xiaomi today announced that it is eliminating the charger that is expected to come with the Xiaomi 11 in response to technology's call for environmental protection.
The Chinese phone maker said that the Xiaomi 11 will come in a new packaging that is thin and light.
Since the charger giveaway has been eliminated, there will be a better package, the details of which will be announced next Monday, the company said.
Previously, Weibo digital blogger @数码闲聊站 had mentioned that the Xiaomi 11 package will offer a better solution even though there is no more charger in it, though he didn't reveal any more details.
Some Weibo users speculated that Xiaomi might allow users to buy the phone along with the option to get a stronger GaN charger at a very low price.
Xiaomi's move comes after Apple, which said at the time of the iPhone 12 series launch that it chose to eliminate the gift of headphones and chargers in order to reduce carbon emissions.
