ZTE exec says AI reduces energy consumption by 20% for 5G and 4G networks

In terms of dormant power saving, the introduction of AI technology allows 4G/5G to work together to reduce network energy consumption by 20 percent, said ZTE President Xu Ziyang at the 2020 China Mobile Global Partner Conference on November 20.

At the show, ZTE showcased a series of industry-leading 5G innovations.

Its SSB1+X solution improves vertical coverage by 30 percent and enhances user experience.

It launched the first eDAS solution, which allows China's three major operators to maximize the use of existing DAS resources.

It also pioneered SuperDSS and FAST technologies to maximize spectrum efficiency.

Xu said he wants networks to be ubiquitous and 5G networks to be very reliable. The computing power of the cloud can be moved flexibly, and all the software on the cloud can be open-sourced, flexible, and free to use.
