China-made Tesla Model 3 production doubles in October compared to September-CnTechPost

China-made Tesla Model 3 production almost doubled in October, which is also the second highest-selling month for Tesla in China, according to Sina Tech.

A total of 22,929 Model 3s were produced at Tesla's Shanghai factory in October, an increase of more than 10,000 units compared to September this year.

This means that Tesla's Shanghai factory could produce more than 5,000 electric vehicles per week during the month of October.

According to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), 12,143 units of the Chinese-made Model 3 were sold in October.

The gap between production and sales in October hints at exports of the Chinese-made Model 3. At the end of October this year, Tesla began exporting the Chinese-made Model 3 to foreign markets, with Europe being its main export market.

Tesla exec denies discriminating against mainland customers on Model 3 supply

When it was first announced that the car would be produced in China, Tesla made it clear that the China-made model was meant to supply demand in the Chinese market and would not be exported to other markets.

However, reports last month showed that Tesla changed its mind and the company plans to export Model 3 made in China to other countries.

On October 26, Tesla celebrated the export of its domestically produced vehicles to Europe at its Shanghai super factory, where around 7,000 domestically produced Model 3 cars will leave the next day for the European market.

The vehicles are expected to arrive at a Belgian port by the end of next month and will then be sold to more than a dozen countries, including Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, and Sweden.

Could NIO's upcoming sedan be a formidable rival to Tesla's Model 3?
