China's October new energy vehicle sales double from same month last year

A total of 160,000 new energy vehicles were sold in China in October, up 104.5% year-on-year, data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers showed on Wednesday.

Sales of pure electric vehicles were 133,000 units, up 115.4 percent year-on-year. Sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 27,000 units, up 63.7% year-on-year. Sales of fuel cell vehicles were 79 units, up 4.0% year-on-year.

From January to October, China's new energy vehicle sales were 901,000 units, down 7.1% year-on-year.

China sold a total of 2.573 million cars in October, up 12.5 percent year-on-year, the data showed.

In the January-October period, car sales were 19.699 million units, down 4.7% year-on-year.
