The number of NIO models registered for insurance in China went up 94% year-on-year to reach 4,880 in October, with the ES6 and ES8 being the top two pure electric models in the ranking, the latest data showed.
Insurance registrations for the NIO ES6, a pure electric SUV in the RMB 350,000 class, reached 2,610 units in October. The model has been the top seller in the pure electric SUV market for 13 consecutive months, according to data released by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center on November 10.

The NIO ES8 has accumulated 1,434 insurance registrations in October, ranking second in the pure electric SUV market after the ES6.
In the ranking of mid- to large-sized SUVs priced over RMB 400,000, including fuel vehicles, the ES8 ranked 10th and was the only all-electric vehicle and the only Chinese brand to make the list.

After first deliveries began in October, the NIO EC6, the company’s third mass-produced model, also made its debut in the mid-size SUV over RMB 300,000 ranking in 14th place with a total of 836 insurance registrations in October.

With the EC6 ranking ninth in the pure electric SUV market, all three NIO models are now in the top 10 of insurance registrations in the pure electric SUV market.
Last week, NIO unveiled its 100kWh battery and battery upgrades, which the company says has more than 300 patents and features technical highlights such as heat-spread-free safety design, high integration, and all-weather temperature control.
With the 100kWh battery, the NIO models will have an NEDC range of up to 615 km.
With the launch of the 100kWh battery, the NIO completes the final step in the business of separating the body from the battery as well as the BaaS battery rental service.
By purchasing a car equipped with a 70kWh battery through the BaaS model, users can lower the price of the car by RMB 70,000, with a monthly battery rental service fee of RMB 980. Users through the BaaS model to buy a 100kWh battery models, car prices can be reduced by 128,000 yuan, the monthly battery rental service fee of 1,480 yuan.
NIO launched a flexible battery upgrade program, 70kWh battery users have the flexibility to upgrade the 100kWh battery by a monthly payment of 880RMB; if you upgrade the 100kWh battery by year, you will pay 7980RMB per year.
