Tesla exec says FSD in China won't raise prices for now-CnTechPost

Following Tesla CEO Elon Musk's announcement that the US version of the full self-driving (FSD) software will soon increase in price, Tesla's vice president of external affairs Grace Tao said on Weibo today that the FSD in China will not be increasing in price at this time.

Yesterday Musk said on Twitter that the price of FSD will increase by $2,000 from $8,000 to $10,000 starting next Monday.

Musk said the FSD price increase is due to the company just pushing out the latest beta version of its FSD software to some owners earlier this week.

The beta version of Tesla's Autopilot was officially released on the evening of October 20 in the United States, with a small rollout.

This new update to FSD is based on a complete rewrite of the underlying architecture and features enhanced automatic driving assistance capabilities.

Teslas 100% made in China? That possibility grows more realistic

For years, Tesla has been selling FSD packages with development not yet complete, and the company has come under fire for doing so. Tesla has also been criticized for the way it has marketed the FSD.

Some say that selling the FSD ahead of time gives some people the false impression that Tesla's vehicles are already automated, which is not the case. Others have criticized Tesla for its up-and-down pricing of FSDs.

Over the past year, Musk has been more specific about the pricing of the FSD software suite, and Musk said that Tesla will increase the price of the suite as new features are introduced.

Musk said on Twitter yesterday that the price of FSD will increase by $2,000, from $8,000 to $10,000, starting on Monday, and that the increase is due to the fact that the company just pushed the latest beta version of FSD to some owners earlier this week.

Musk has said that the price of the FSD is likely to rise even further in the future, and could be worth more than $100,000 in the future.
