Huawei has unveiled the Y9a smartphone, which is a tweaked variant of the Changxiang 20 Plus that was recently launched in China.
The Huawei Y9a features a 6.63-inch FHD+ (2400×1080 pixels) IPS LCD panel on the front with a screen-to-body ratio of 92%.
Its screen doesn't have any notch or perforations, which is because the phone's 16-megapixel selfie camera is housed in a pop-up module.
Unlike the Changxiang 20 Plus, which has a MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor, the Huawei Y9a phone comes with a MediaTek G80 SoC processor, depending on the region where it is sold.
Huawei unveils new Changxiang 20 series 5G phones starting at about $248
It has 6GB/8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Users can further expand the storage with Huawei's proprietary NM SD card.
The camera arrangement on the back of the device follows the circular design of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, but with a different sensor. It features a 64-megapixel primary shooter, an 8-megapixel 120° ultra-wide angle, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. The Changxiang 20 Plus, on the other hand, features a 48-megapixel primary shooter + 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle + 2-megapixel macro triplex.
The phone runs on EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 with HMS.
It supports 4G LTE, dual-band WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C port.
It will be powered by a 4200mAh battery and supports 40W fast charging in some countries in the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia. In other regions, it will be powered by a 4200mAh battery and will only support 22.5W fast charging.
