After years of hard work, Alibaba is now approaching one billion domestic consumers and 180 million overseas consumers annually, Daniel Zhang, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Alibaba Group, said today.
"We have a longer-term goal: By 2036, we want to serve 2 billion consumers around the world," said Daniel Zhang in his speech at the opening ceremony of the 3rd Hangzhou International Day 2020.
He said Alibaba has been a global company since day one. From the earliest days of e-commerce to building a new world online, there is no hard business to do.
After more than 20 years of practice, Alibaba has now grown into a digital economy for the digital era, building a three-dimensional digital ecosystem with big data-driven digital commerce, digital finance, digital logistics, cloud computing big data, and more, he said.
According to Daniel Zhang, today people talk about globalization in the era of the digital economy, focusing on local market development as well as using China's two main strengths: one is the power of the Chinese consumer.
Last year, the Alibaba platform has managed to spend more than $1 trillion on the platform, which is behind the huge power of the Chinese consumer, he claims.
And since the epidemic, there are many countries where manufacturers and brands have been hit by the epidemic, the value of the Chinese market has become more and more prominent.
Chinese manufacturing is one of the foundations on which global trade runs, and is the biggest opportunity for trade across China to usher forward on the digital avenue, he said.
"We need to take advantage of the high degree of convenience that digitalization brings to take the products produced by Chinese SMEs to the global market and directly to overseas consumers more easily and efficiently," he claimed.
