Visionox Technology, ZTE's supplier of under-screen camera technology, is expected to be the screen supplier for Huawei's next-generation foldable phone, 21jingji.com said, citing sources close to Huawei suppliers.
According to the report, Visionox has also recently reached an intention to cooperate with Huawei, the two sides will work together on the next generation of foldable phone technology research and development.
The sources pointed out that, as the demand for China-made products in the semiconductor and other areas heating up, domestic panel and other spare part suppliers are also becoming increasingly important.
"The first two generations of Huawei (foldable phones) have used Samsung displays, although the cooperation with Samsung has not been affected by trade frictions or sanctions, gradually turning to the domestic supplier is also a predictable direction," the sources said.
"On the one hand, the technology of domestic OLEDs is leading the way to meet the upgrading needs of mobile terminals, and on the other hand, it is better for cost control for the major manufacturers," they said.
Visionox is the screen supplier of ZTE's AXON 20 5G, which is set to be released on September 1 to become the world's first mobile phone with an under-screen camera.

The front image of the ZTE AXON 20 5G, released earlier this month by Ni Fei, president of ZTE's Terminal Business Unit, showed the device with no notch, no punch-hole, and no teardrop form factor, which Ni Fei says are compromises that consumers have had to accept, and what users are now expecting will finally arrive.
The ZTE AXON 20 5G will feature a 6.92-inch OLED full screen with a resolution of 2,460×1,080.
It is powered by an octa-core processor and comes with up to 12GB of RAM + 256GB of storage.
It has a 32-megapixel camera on the front and a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad-camera on the rear. The battery capacity is 4,120 mAh.
