There are currently about 1,200 certified professional esports commentators in China and most of them can make over ten thousand yuan a month, according to CCTV.
There are often 2-3 commentators, each with their own job when an esports tournament is going on. The salary of a new esports commentator is generally higher than that of a college graduate in the same year.
The industry is gradually showing a trend of specialization, and large tournaments such as League of Legends and Glory of Kings have higher requirements for commentators with more emphasis on educational experience.
According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, there are more than 5,000 e-sports teams operating in China, with professional e-sports players reaching 100,000.
Universities in China are also cultivating talents in this field, with the Communication University of China and the Sichuan Film and Television Institute already offering courses in digital entertainment and e-sports.
