Earlier this month, Apple removed a slew of games from the China App Store due to a rule change.
In the first three days, Apple removed more than 4,500 games, and now according to AppInChina's latest data, Apple has removed more than 11,000 games so far.
All app developers now need to get an approval number from the regulator to release their games to Apple's App Store.
Previously, developers could be allowed to go live with their games while waiting for license approval.
A rule change earlier this year means that developers must now get approvals before submitting their apps.
The change took effect on June 30, and Apple's initial response was to freeze the unlicensed developers' access to thousands of mobile games' updates.
The approval number is the basis for game compliance to operate online, and its importance is self-evident.
However, in recent years, due to China's tightening of distribution channels for game approval numbers, the difficulty of getting an approval number is increasing year by year.
According to the information on the approval of domestic online games released by the State Administration of Press and Publication, the number of games getting approvals in 2017 was 9,368, in 2018 it was 2,064, in 2019 the number is only 1,468.
Apple previously sent an email to game developers informing them to upload their approval number of the games as soon as possible during a one-month "buffer period". It can be expected that more games will be removed in the next month.
