Patent suggests Huawei may make foldable phone similar to Galaxy Z Flip

Huawei is likely working on a new foldable smartphone, but this one uses a different approach than the Mate X series' design.

According to a patent that recently surfaced, the new foldable phone may feature a flip-fold design, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.

The patent was filed by Huawei with China's State Intellectual Property Office back in August 2019 and finally was granted to Huawei earlier today.

The patent shows a phone with a foldable flip cover design and a vertically laid out camera module on the rear.

It also has a secondary display on the back, while the front has a foldable display with a notch.

From the images, the phone is curved inwards from top to bottom and uses a circular hinge mechanism, similar to the Galaxy Z Flip.

Huawei had also previously purchased UTG (ultra-thin glass), which was also used in the Galaxy Z Flip.
