Tencent unveils 'Pokémon Unite' that combines Pokémon with 'League of Legends'

Tencent's TiMi Studio has co-developed Pokémon UNITE with GameFreak, which is a team-based, real-time strategy game like DOTA and League of Legends.

TiMi Studio's portfolio also includes the large free-to-play online games Honor of Kings and Call of Duty: Mobile.

The new game is very similar to multiplayer online tactical competitive games, especially in the style of League of Legends: a five-player team battle mode, where you compete and complete objectives to advance.

The multi-line game map is more reminiscent of existing team strategy games. The free-to-play game will reportedly launch on both Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, with support for multiplayer Interactive Games.

Tencent shares have been hitting record highs in recent times, and one of the key reasons is that its gaming business is performing strongly enough.

Industry sources say that Tencent will next make more links with Nintendo, hoping that more good games will drive the growth of Switch sales in China, as well as cultivate more paying customers.
