In a new patent, Xiaomi has shown how the front and rear cameras on its future foldable smartphone will work simultaneously.
When folded, cameras 13, 14, and 15 are user-facing, which means you'll get a three-camera system for capturing selfies.
When the foldable phone's camera 13 is facing the user, cameras 14 and 15 are also facing the user.
At this point, the user can call up one or more cameras for selfies and video calls from the foldable phone and use cameras 13, 14, and 15 as front-facing cameras at the same time.
When the foldable phone's camera 13 is facing the user, the user can also call up one or more of camera 13, camera 14, and camera 15 for recording.
Camera 15 is also used as a rear camera, which enhances the foldable phone's rear camera capabilities.
Of course, this is only a patent at this point, which means that Xiaomi may or may not commercialize the entire idea, so like many other patents, this design may never see the light of day.
Xiaomi has been rumored to be working on its first foldable device for some time now.
While we don't know much about what its first foldable device will look like or its specs, the company recently purchased an ultra-thin glass cover.
This suggests that just like the Galaxy Z Flip, Xiaomi's upcoming foldable phone could also feature a UTG (ultra-thin glass) display.
