China Mobile recently teamed up with Yangquan Coal Industry Co.,Ltd. and Huawei to build the country's first 5G smart coal mine, deploying the mine's 5G private network 534 meters underground.
With a 5G network in place, the coal mine can operate unmanned, automated and visualized.
A single base station has the ability to transmit more than 50 channels of 4K HD video simultaneously, and 5G's low latency and high reliability make remote control a reality.
At the end of the underground industrial ring network, 5G can easily reduce the equipment communication cables, making the equipment easy to move, greatly reducing the workload of underground communication cable laying, maintenance and troubleshooting.
In addition, based on massive connectivity and large bandwidth, 5G ends the history of one network for each system underground, isolating information from each other, and making unified data computing a reality.
Previously, China Mobile has deployed 5G networks in several open-pit mines, while working with partners to obtain the country's first 5G NSA networking key equipment safety certification for coal mines.
