Huawei is already involved in 6G-related pre-research, said Yang Tao, vice president of Huawei's China operator business unit, in an interview with Sina Tech.
He said that Huawei deploys many products according to three generations: the previous generation, the generation under development, and the pre-development generation. That's why pre-studies are generally well in advance.
In the 6G section, Huawei has a judgment that 6G is dominated by millimeter bands and is currently in the scene mining and technology finding stages.
Huawei expects to see some 6G usage by 2030, and is currently actively engaged in this area.
Currently, Huawei has 100 commercial 5G contracts in hand.
China's three largest operators opened a new round of 5G device crowdsourcing earlier this year, with Huawei arguably the biggest winner.
Huawei also took the top spot in the China Unicom and China Telecom's 2020 5G SA wireless master equipment joint crowdsourcing project.
Yang Tao said that China's 5G development has progressed a lot in the last year, firstly in terms of frequency, China is developing 5G based on IF, and nearly 90% of the global operators have chosen IF as the development direction. So, China is off to a very good start in the whole 5G midrange.
China is also leading the way in the entire 5G construction scale, with 190,000 base stations built so far and expected to reach between 500,000 and 600,000 stations by the end of the year.
So far the three operators have developed 50 million 5G subscribers and are expected to reach 200 million for the year.
There are currently 19 industries and thousands of enterprises in China that are working on 5G-based innovation, and the scenario solutions are becoming more mature.
