China's tablet PC market shipped about 3.73 million units in the first quarter of 2020, down 30 percent year-on-year, according to IDC China.
In terms of share, Huawei came in first. Huawei Tablet shipped about 1.5 million units in the first quarter, up 4.3 percent year-over-year, with a market share of 40.2 percent.
During the new coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, manufacturers were generally affected by factory shutdowns resulting in fewer shipments, with only Huawei bucking the growth trend. Huawei's market share for the same period last year was 27%.
Apple, Xiaomi, Microsoft, Lenovo all fell to varying degrees.
Affected by the supply chain, Apple shipped about 1.31 million iPad units in the first quarter, down 42.5 percent year-on-year, taking 35.1 percent of the market.
Xiaomi, Microsoft, and Lenovo shipped 20,000, 120,000, and 60,000 units, down 31%, 18%, and 49%, respectively.
IDC points out that during the epidemic, telecommuting and online classes led to a surge in consumer demand for tablets, but after the shutdown and resumption of work, unfavorable factors such as manpower, spare parts and logistics led to the factory production and supply difficulties to meet the surge in market demand, and the market for mainstream brand products in a long-term state of shortage.
