Huawei recently released a 5G antenna technology called CableFree, which makes a major breakthrough in key areas such as base station antenna integration, radiation efficiency and power capacity, and marks a new era for antenna development in the 5G era.
Huawei's CableFree technology breaks through the current antenna design bottleneck, enabling effective improvement in all aspects of antenna capabilities.
1) Better high-frequency coverage with 5G. 5G uses a higher frequency band and requires higher antenna gain to provide higher coverage.
At the same time, 5G network coverage needs to be accomplished in collaboration with multiple frequency bands, such as 1.8GHz/2.1GHz as 5G uplink, high frequency coverage plays an important role in 5G experience continuity.
CableFree technology improves antenna radiation efficiency by about 20%, resulting in better coverage quality.
(2) To meet the demand for greater output power in the 5G era with more frequency bands and more channels.
In the 5G era, the demand for high capacity and high speed, the need to apply more spectrum and high order MIMO, antenna carrying power will increase from five or six hundred watts to more than one kilowatt.
CableFree technology improves the antenna power capacity by more than 80% to meet the demand for greater output power in the 5G era.
3) Reduce antenna weight for easy installation and deployment. The high degree of integration of the antenna components effectively reduces the weight of the antenna.
Take the 6-band antenna as an example, the overall weight is reduced by about 10kg, the weight of the control multi-band antenna is within 50kg, avoiding the use of cranes, thus simplifying the installation process and saving installation costs.
(4) Antenna PIM performance is better.
CableFree technology reduces screws and solder joints inside the antenna by 80%, reducing PIM risk and guaranteeing long-term PIM stability; its new architecture and process increase the production automation ratio, ensuring better performance consistency in mass production.
CableFree technology employs technologies such as cable-fed design and integrated phase shifter design for improved antenna integration and antenna performance.
CableFree technology will be used in Huawei's Munich Pro, Golden Mini and London Pro series antennas, as well as in the 32T32R Massive MIMO products.
