Samsung usually only releases OS updates for smartphones for the two major Androids, keeping the monthly security updates for three years.
Now that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are also over the age limit, both devices have shifted to quarterly cycle updates. This means that the Samsung S8 Series will no longer receive monthly security updates.
So far, Samsung has been providing monthly security updates for these phones, and just last month it released an update that brought the April 2020 security patch.
Given that the Galaxy S8/S8+ was launched on April 21, 2017, it's been exactly three years since these devices were released.
Apparently, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will not get the Android 10 update. They have received two major OS updates. In the future, these devices will only receive updates once a quarter and no new features will be added.
