Butterfly keyboard is out for good with release of new 13-inch MacBook Pro

After years of user "dissatisfaction" with the MacBook butterfly keyboard, Apple has finally completed the task of moving its notebook lineup from butterfly to scissor keyboards.

Apple updated its new 13-inch MacBook Pro yesterday with the same scissor-switch keyboard as the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple no longer sells any MacBook Pro/MacBook Air with a butterfly keyboard, except for those sold in the official refurbished stores.

Last year, the Magic Keyboard was first used on the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

It brings with it a redesigned scissor key design with a 1mm key range, an inverted "T" arrangement of directional keys, and a physical key design with Escape keys next to the touch bar.

MacBook models with Magic Keyboard:

2019 Model 16-inch MacBook Pro

2020 13-inch MacBook Pro

2020 MacBook Air

Previously, the butterfly keyboard of Apple's MacBook products encountered problems with sticking keys and other functional key failures. As part of its global service plan, Apple will continue to offer free repairs to affected customers.
