OPPO recently applied for a patent for the design of a smartphone with a special cover, with a QWERT full keyboard built into the protective case of the phone.
The patent application began in late 2018 and was recently made public, and the design is also included in the WIPO Design Database, which contains 12 product images, seven of which are in color.
As a demo the phone has a teardrop-shaped notch at the top, very similar to the OPPO Reno 3, but the focus is on the design of the case.
This cover is styled in the flip-up style that is common on phones these days, but on the inside of the flip-up area, it has a full keyboard input area, meaning that this accessory is ideal when you need to type fonts frequently on your phone.
It's unclear whether OPPO has any plans to launch this accessory for its current new machine, but OPPO has recently accelerated the pace of its own "smart ecosystem" construction, the launch of a full-keyboard smart flip case as an input device also makes sense.
Whether or not keypad-style protectors really work needs to be tested by the market.
