Qualcomm is now working with BOE to bring under-screen fingerprint recognition technology to more and more mobile phones, according to PhoneArena.
BOE, the display maker from China, is responsible for providing screen panels for foldable phones, such as Motorola Razr, as well as OPPO, Nubia and other mobile phone models. Huawei's Mate Xs is also BOE responsible for manufacturing its screen.
Qualcomm provides the 3D fingerprint scanning technology currently used only by Samsung phones. Through cooperation with BOE, Qualcomm has gained a larger customer base.
In addition, mobile phone companies will also easily use the technology in future smartphones.
It is reported that the partnership is not limited to smartphones, but also extends to VR/AR and smart appliances.
It is said that manufacturers will release more devices using Qualcomm screen fingerprint technology in the second half of 2020.
Qualcomm's sensors are different from other fingerprint technologies that use optical sensors to take pictures of your fingerprints. Qualcomm uses sound waves to draw ridges on your fingers, so the company announced that its fingerprint scanning technology is faster and safer than other technologies.
