Apple today released the stable version of macOS Catalina 10.15.4, adding a number of new features.
macOS Catalina 10.15.4 adds features such as iCloud Drive folder sharing, limited communication in Screen Time, and real-time display of Apple Music lyrics.
This update also improves Mac stability, reliability, and security.
Finder
• Share iCloud Drive folders from “Finder”
• Provides access control, allowing only explicitly invited users to access or anyone with a folder link can access
• Allows selection of users who can change and upload files and users who can only view and download files
Screen time
• Use limited communications to control who your children can communicate with in two days and during periods of inactivity
• Control children's music video playback
Music
• Apple Music can display lyrics in real time, tap the lyrics in the lyrics view to jump to the favorite part of the song
Safari browser
• Optional import Chrome passwords into iCloud keychain, making it easy to populate passwords on Safari and all devices with AutoFill
• Added controls for copying tabs and closing all tabs to the right of the current tab
• Supports playback of HDR content from Netflix on compatible computers
Pro Display XDR
• Customize the reference mode by selecting various color gamut, white point, brightness, and transfer function options to suit the needs of a specific workflow
Auxiliary function
• Head control pointer preferences can move the cursor on the screen based on precise head movements
This update also includes bug fixes and other improvements.
• Outputs "high dynamic range" content to third-party displays and TVs compatible with HDR10 via DisplayPort or HDMI
• Support OAuth authentication for Outlook.com account to improve security
• Supports migration of CalDav after upgrading to iCloud reminders on assistive devices
• Resolved an issue where text copied between apps might not be visible after Dark Mode was enabled
• Fixed an issue where CAPTCHA tiles might not display correctly in Safari browser
• Resolved an issue where Reminders might send notifications for completed reminders
• Fixed screen brightness issue when LG UltraFine 5K display wakes up from sleep
