A new Xiaomi patent indicates that the company may implement a reversible design with LED flash and dual cameras on a flexible screen with holes.
Through the flip mechanism, the device can flexibly switch the front and rear cameras to bring users a unique shooting experience.
Earlier, we've seen fun flip camera designs on Samsung Galaxy A80 and Asus 6Z devices.
The patented Xiaomi image released by 91Mobiles shows that after flipping, the front selfie camera can also be used for rear shooting. Patent images show that this deformation process may be achieved by a motor.
The small display can also be used as the notification panel or viewfinder for the main camera when flipped backwards. After being erected, the entire screen can have a larger aspect ratio.
There are common volume adjustment and power buttons on the side of the fuselage, and of course it can also be used as an AI assistant's call. The charging port is between the bottom speaker grille, and the SIM card slot appears to be on the top of the body. 4.jpg
On the ASUS 6Z, the camera module was simply lifted to the front of the fuselage. And Xiaomi's solution can obviously flip this part of the flexible screen + sensor back and forth together.
Last month, Xiaomi also applied for a flip camera mechanism, which can flip a series of cameras to the front of the fuselage.
Although it's hard to say whether this approach is more practical, it does look particularly unique. It's unclear whether the machine's specifications or whether the company intends to launch such a product.
