Apple plans to announce new MacBook Air models next week, Mac Rumors reported on Friday citing an anonymous tipster.
The tipster gave only the launch window of the new MacBook Air without further details.
The report said this information has yet to be confirmed, but given the tipster now has an established track record, we have elected to share this rumor".
Last March, MacRumors received a tip from the same tipster claiming that Apple would announce new iPad, iMac, and iPod models with three consecutive days of press releases the following week, and that information proved to be two-thirds accurate.
Apple did announce a new product on the Wednesday, but it was new AirPods, not a new iPod. Given both products have "Pod" in their name, perhaps there was some confusion there, but it is clear the tipster was relatively informed, the report noted.
This echoes a recent report by cnTechPost that said Apple has accelerated the development of new MacBook models after the outbreak of new coronavirus pneumonia.
That was the prediction by Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in his latest report published on Thursday.
Kuo believes that, compared with general consumer electronics, because MacBook demand is more stable, demand is limited by the new coronavirus pneumonia.
In the report, Kuo maintained its forecast that the 2020 new MacBook will all adopt the scissor keyboard but revised the supply share of component manufacturers and updated the shipment schedule of new products.
He expects the new MacBook models to ship as follows:
(1) 2Q20 launched the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, which are optimized for cost structure, but users do not feel the difference.
(2) 4Q20–1Q21 launched MacBook models using Apple's own processors.
(3) 2Q–3Q21 launched a new design of MacBook models.
