Even after four years, Samsung has not forgotten the Galaxy S7. The South Korea tech giant is rolling out the January 2020 security patches for the global Samsung Galaxy S7 (G930F), according to Reddit user Mattbri18.
After the latest security patches have been released on the Galaxy Note9, S9, S9 +, S10 and Note 10, it is now the Galaxy S7's turn to taste the enhanced security patches.
Firmware versions GP30FXXS7ETA7, G930FTEF7ESK1 and G930FXXS7ETA7 are being rolled out to Galaxy S7 in different regions. It is over 49.28MB in size and also contains new performance improvements and general bug fixes.
In the UK, the same update also applies to the O2 locked Galaxy S7.
It is also interesting to note that the Samsung Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note 3, where were released 9 and 7 years ago respectively, have received an unofficial Android 10 update thanks to LineageOS developers.
The Galaxy S II was released in 2011 and its last official update, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, was released in 2013.
The Galaxy Note 3 was launched in 2013 and received its last official update, Android 5.0 Lollipop, in 2015.
After this, Samsung dropped official support for these devices and did not provide any further software updates to them.
