The POCO phone was originally a brand launched by Xiaomi Mi in India. It has previously released the POCO F1 mobile phone but there is no word that the brand will enter the mainland market.
However, Chang Cheng, vice president of Xiaomi, said in a reply on Weibo that POCO phones will enter the domestic market in the future.
The POCO X2 was released in India today, marking the first time for the brand to release a device after becoming indenpent from Xiaomi.
The price for the 6GB + 64GB version is Rs 15,999 ($225), the 6GB + 128GB version Rs 16,999 and the 8GB + 256GB version is Rs 19,999.
The Poco X2 will be available for purchase on Flipkart starting from February 11 from 12 noon. ICICI Bank debit and credit card users can get an additional Rs 1,000 off on the Poco X2 while making the purchase.
Since Poco relies on Xiaomi for all its resources, the X2 is using Xiaomi's Android 10-based MIUI 11 but with the Poco launcher installed.
Poco is also baking support for VoWiFi at launch, which means you can make calls via your Wi-Fi network.
Last month, Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi Global Vice President and Xiaomi India's Chief Business Officer, announced that the POCO brand operates independently.
According to Indian media reports, the POCO brand may launch the Pocophone F2 Lite mobile phone, which will be a mid-range mobile phone product.
