Will clamshell form factor be the next fashion trend in consumer electronics? Tech giants are telling us it probably is.
As cnTechPost reported Saturday, Motorola’s clamshell phone the Razr is not alone as Xiaomi and Huawei may both have similar devices according to new patents from them.
Today, leaked renders of a clamshell Huawei phone are giving us a better understanding of what that may look like.
The images are base on what we saw from Huawei’s patents with the front screen having nothing except for the glass. On the back, it has a triple camera array on the top.

The clamshell form factor of Motorola Razr brings back the company's iconic brand from the 2000s and created plenty of fanfare in recent days. But other tech giants seem to have also been preparing for this kind of device.
Besides the above mentioned Huawei patents, another Chinese phone maker Xiaomi also has patents on this.
According to patents granted to Xiaomi, the company’s envision of a clamshell form factor is general the same as that of the Motorola Razr, except that it doesn’t have the prominent “chin” feature of the Razr.
As early as late last month, South Korean tech giant Samsung had already showed off a new foldable smartphone concept that folds vertically like an old flip phone at its developer conference.
