The Motorola Razr was a hit once it was unveiled. But new patents show that both Xiaomi and Huawei may produce similar clamshell foldable devices in the future.
According to patents granted to Xiaomi, the company’s envision of a clamshell form factor is general the same as that of the Motorola Razr, except that it doesn’t have the prominent “chin” feature of the Razr.
While Xiaomi’s patents show there will be front-facing camera on the top, Huawei’s patents show a much more futuristic design, with the front screen spots nothing except for the glass.
It also show a triple camera array on the top of the back, compared with the double camera lineup in the middle shown in Xiaomi’s patents.
The clamshell form factor of Motorola Razr brings back the company's iconic brand from the 2000s.
The phone has a 6.2-inch pOLED screen with a resolution of 2,142 x 876 pixels. The outer display is 2.7-inches with a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, and it’s also an OLED, but covered in glass rather than plastic.
