Xiaomi released the Redmi 8 in India today, which features gradient design and includes fingerprint sensor on the back panel.
The device, successor to the Redmi 7 that launched in India earlier this year, comes with a Dot drop notch that includes the selfie camera. On paper the Redmi 8 is almost similar to the Redmi 8A.
As with the specs it isn't a big upgrade from the Redmi 8A. The Redmi 8 comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back panel that doesn't exist on the Redmi 8A. It also comes with face unlock.
Here are the specs:
- Display: 6.22-inch 1520*720 HD+ IPS display
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 439
- RAM: 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM
- Storage: 32GB and 64GB storage
- Back camera: On the rear panel the Redmi 8 includes two cameras. The primary camera uses a 12MP Sony IMMX363 sensor while the secondary camera includes a 2MP depth sensor
- Front camera: For selfies the Redmi 8 equips an 8MP camera sensor
- Battery: 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support
- Software: MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie
The price for the base model that comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage is Rs 7,999 ($112). The top-end model 4GB + 64GB variant is priced at Rs 8,999 ($126).
As a part of special offer, Xiaomi will be selling the first 5 million units of the Redmi 8 4GB + 64GB variant at Rs 7,999.
The Redmi 8 will go on sale in India on October 12.
