Chinese startup Moonshot has released and open-sourced its most powerful model, Kimi K2.6, aiming to enhance code writing, long-horizon task execution, and agent swarm capabilities.

The model is a new product following Moonshot's release of the Kimi K2.5 model in January. It is now available on the official website, the Kimi app, Kimi API, and the Kimi Code programming assistant, accessible to all users for free or via paid subscriptions, according to a Moonshot announcement on Monday.

The newly upgraded Kimi K2.6 model has achieved industry breakthroughs in code writing, the execution of complex long-horizon tasks, and multi-agent swarm collaboration.

Actual test data shows that the model can code uninterrupted for 13 hours, modify over 4,000 lines of code, and autonomously complete the refactoring of a complex financial engine.

Even when performance is pushed near its limits, the median throughput can achieve a 185% increase, the company said.

In addition, the agent swarm capabilities have also been upgraded, with the model now supporting 300 sub-agents working in parallel to complete 4,000 collaborative steps.

It can achieve end-to-end delivery of multiple outputs and run autonomously for up to 5 days, Moonshot said.

In several authoritative benchmark tests, the model's comprehensive performance has matched or even outperformed top closed-source models such as GPT-5.4 and Claude Opus 4.6, the company said.

Competition in China's AI model sector is becoming increasingly fierce, with major tech giants like ByteDance and Tencent successively joining the tech battle with brand-new products.

This technological upgrade comes as Moonshot accelerates its commercialization process. Its annual recurring revenue strongly surpassed the $100 million mark after the release of Kimi K2.5, and its latest valuation has now reached a staggering $18 billion.

Moonshot's latest two funding rounds collectively exceeded $1.2 billion, setting a new single-round financing record in China's AI large-model space over the past year.
