Oppo and OnePlus have officially announced price adjustments for select older smartphone models, signaling the start of a broader price-hike for the mobile phone market in 2026.

Oppo published a notice on its official online store on Tuesday, stating that prices for certain products will be adjusted on March 16.

These price adjustments cover the Oppo A series, K series, and OnePlus models. They do not include the Oppo Find series, Reno series, or the Oppo Pad series.

Rising costs for key mobile phone components, including high-speed storage hardware, prompted the company to make this decision, Oppo said.

The procurement cost of smartphone memory chips has surged by more than 80% compared to the same period last year, and there are no signs of this trend slowing down, local media outlet China Star Market said in a report last month.

Multiple brands, including Vivo, Xiaomi, and Honor, have already signaled or implemented price adjustments. For instance, the price of the Redmi Turbo 5 was raised by 100 yuan ($14.50) starting last Wednesday.

Driven by frequent fluctuations in memory costs, the Chinese mobile phone market in 2026 may face multiple price increases within a single year for the first time in history.

Surging AI computing demand has driven global memory chip prices to record highs, pushing retail prices of some Lenovo PC models up by more than 1,000 yuan ($144).
