Artificial intelligence is reshaping everything and Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) CEO believes people's lives will soon be widely transformed.

"When AIOS (artificial intelligence operating systems) are developed in the future, they will have a huge impact on our lives," Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun said in an interview with state broadcaster CCTV.

Xiaomi will continue to advance technological innovation and ensure product quality, Lei said, according to a report on Thursday.

Xiaomi is accelerating its transition into a global hard-tech company and plans to invest 200 billion yuan ($29 billion) in core underlying technologies over the next five years, according to a plan Lei announced last month.

The company is speeding up the independent research and development of core hardware to boost its influence in high-end technology.

Xiaomi president Lu Weibing revealed the company plans to maintain an annual update cycle for its in-house developed "XRing" smartphone processor chips, matching Apple's pace, according to a CNBC report on Wednesday.

Xiaomi plans to fully integrate the XRing O1 chip, HyperOS operating system, and AI assistant in a new domestic smartphone this year. The company will subsequently roll it out overseas.

By 2026, Xiaomi expects to integrate its in-house developed chip, OS, and large AI model into a single device. This will mark a new milestone in its technological innovation history.

Lu also said that Xiaomi is developing a new AI assistant for overseas markets. The company plans to launch this smart service concurrently when its auto business enters Europe and other international markets in 2027.

While expanding globally, Xiaomi is adopting a strategy that emphasizes both open cooperation and independent R&D.

The company will likely partner with Google to introduce the Gemini model, Lu said. This will ultimately enable its AI agents to cover both the smartphone and smart vehicle ecosystems.

Surging AI computing demand has driven global memory chip prices to record highs, pushing retail prices of some Lenovo PC models up by more than 1,000 yuan ($144).
