Apple sent invitations to multiple Chinese media outlets on Sunday, confirming a product launch event in Shanghai at 10 pm Beijing time on March 4.
This marks a rare instance of Apple holding a dedicated major product launch in China, timed shortly after the Lunar New Year celebrations.
The event may unveil multiple hardware products, with the most anticipated being a new entry-level MacBook laptop.
Bloomberg reported earlier this month that the laptop, priced around $699 to $750, will feature an aluminum alloy casing instead of plastic.
The device is expected to offer multiple color options, including light yellow, light green, blue, and pink, to appeal to students and younger consumers.
It will be powered by Apple's A-series chip rather than the M-series, with costs controlled by reducing the number of ports and memory configurations.
Notably, Apple's new manufacturing process for this budget model is reportedly faster and more cost-effective than current MacBook Pro and MacBook Air production methods, potentially paving the way for adoption in higher-end product lines.
Beyond the entry-level MacBook, market expectations suggest Apple may also launch MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, a new Mac Studio, and the iPhone 17e.
