Chinese smartphone giant Vivo recently announced the opening of smart manufacturing centers in Pakistan and Turkey to increase its global reach.
The Pakistan smart manufacturing center covers 16,000 square meters with a total investment of RMB 65 million ($10.02 million) and a design capacity of 6 million units per year.
The Turkey smart manufacturing center covers 12,000 square meters, with a total investment of RMB 130 million and a design capacity of 5 million units per year.
The Pakistan manufacturing center has eight production lines, and the Turkey manufacturing center supports Vivo's local manufacturing of smartphones in all price ranges.
These two manufacturing centers will provide more than 1,500 jobs in Pakistan and 2,000 jobs in Turkey.
Vivo senior vice president and chief marketing officer Xudong Ni said the company hopes to embrace different market environments for its long-term strategy by expanding its global smart manufacturing network.
Vivo has been on an international journey since 2014 and has adopted "More Local, More Global" as its internationalization strategy, a move that means it is taking its local operations a step further.
In addition to the newly established manufacturing centers in Pakistan and Turkey, Vivo has five smart manufacturing centers around the world, located in Dongguan, Chongqing, India, Bangladesh and Indonesia, which have the capacity to manufacture nearly 200 million smart terminals per year.
