Honor's market share in China has rebounded from 5.1 percent in January to 8.4 percent in June, according to a report released Friday by market research firm Counterpoint Research.
Although Honor's sales in June were only about half of its 4.55 million units in August last year, they were up 27 percent from May, the report said.
Honor had a 16.7 percent market share in China at its peak, a figure that fell to 3 percent in the first quarter of 2021 from Huawei's independence.
On June 16, Honor unveiled the Honor 50 series, its first phone since independence from Huawei, and announced a major shake-up of Honor's phone lineup.
Zhao said at the time that Honor had survived its toughest moments, climbing from a low of 3 percent to 9.5 percent market share.
The Honor 50 series, which went on sale at the end of June, covers the RMB 2,000 ($309) to RMB 4,000 price range, covering both the mass and mid-range segments of the Chinese smartphone market.
In early July, Honor's official flagship store said the Honor 50 was the No. 1 seller in the RMB 2,500-RMB 4,000 price range for 17 consecutive days on Chinese e-commerce giants JD.com and Tmall.
Honor says the Honor 50 series will allow the company to go further, with the Magic 3 kicking off its high-end rise.
Honor Magic 3 will be released on August 12 with Snapdragon 888 Plus, after Honor president George Zhao said Honor became one of the first manufacturers to carry Snapdragon 888 Plus.
