Chinese smart wear company Huami Technology has changed its English name to Zepp Health Corporation, founder, chairman and CEO Huang Wang said today.
The name ZEPP is easier to remember and can transcend language, culture, and national boundaries, he explained in an open letter.
The company already has two brands, AMAZFIT and ZEPP, as well as a line of smart hardware including smartwatches, bracelets, headphones, and treadmills.
"Based on our proprietary technology and platform in AI chips, sensors, and health data algorithms, we will launch additional smart health product lines," Huang said.
Zepp will expand into additional areas including insurance and medical imaging through partners such as PAI HEALTH, Prudential Corporation Asia, Promaxo, and Hyperfine, according to Huang.
Huami Technology, a smart wearable company, was founded in December 2013 and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in early 2018.
In July 2018, Huami acquired the core assets of Zepp International, a Silicon Valley-based startup that focuses on smart motion sensor technology as well as personalized health management.
