China will not only promote the construction of 5G networks this year but will also accelerate the layout of 6G to promote network optimization, according to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology(MIIT).
The international exploration of 6G technology has not yet taken shape, and there is not yet a complete specification standard, but its network speed will again achieve a leap forward, compared to 5G.
The 6G network speed can reach 1000Gbps with a delay of less than 100us (that is, 0.1ms), which is 50 times faster than the 5G network and only 1/10 of the delay of the latter, according to the prediction of Cui Baoguo, vice dean of the School of Information of Tsinghua University.
Previously more than 10 US companies such as Apple, Google, Cisco, Intel, Qualcomm, Microsoft, and the three major telecom operators Verizon, AT&T, and T mobile have formed a 6G consortium.
But China has launched 6G technology research and development as early as 2019, and Chinese communications companies such as Huawei and ZTE have long been conducting 6G research. Among them, Huawei has set up 6G R&D centers in several regions around the world in 2019, and Huawei’s CEO Ren Zhengfei said Huawei is also a leader in 6G technology.
According to data provided by MIIT, China has established a total of 718,000 5G base stations, with more than 200 million 5G cell phone terminal connections by the end of 2020, making China a global leader in the speed of 5G penetration.
