Xiaomi to open 1,000 customer service centers on Jan 9

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi will open 1,000 Mi Homes -- its directly operated customer service centers -- simultaneously at 10:00 a.m. on January 9, Xiaomi Group Vice President Lu Weibing said today.

This will be a milestone and a fulfillment of Xiaomi's promise last year that "in the coming year, there will be a Mi Home in every county and a Mi Home around every Mi fan," Lu said.

Mi Home is Xiaomi's direct customer service center, providing users with services such as pickup of Xiaomi phones and their accessories, and technical support for Xiaomi phones.

Xiaomi began launching Mi Home in late 2011 and now covers most cities and counties across the country.

Last week, Mi Home added 189 authorized experience stores nationwide, covering an additional 117 new counties.

Xiaomi shares set a new all-time high, delivering on founder Lei Jun's promise to double investor earnings at IPO
