Baidu Apollo gets first autonomous driving test license issued by Nanjing-CnTechPost

Baidu Apollo was awarded five L4 autonomous driving test licenses by the Nanjing municipal government on December 21, which is the first batch of autonomous driving test licenses issued in Nanjing and the first batch of autonomous driving test licenses for front-mounted mass production vehicles in Jiangsu province.

According to the previous cooperation plan of both parties, Nanjing and Qinhuai District will start in-depth cooperation with Baidu in the fields of autonomous driving, vehicle-road cooperation and intelligent vehicle networking.

After receiving the L4 autonomous driving test license, the Hongqi EV self-driving car jointly developed by Baidu and FAW Hongqi will conduct autonomous driving tests in Qinhuai District, Nanjing.

The Hongqi EV self-driving car is also the only front-mounted mass-produced L4 self-driving passenger car in China.

Nanjing's provincial-level pilot zone for self-driving covers an area of about 1.62 square kilometers, covering 15 roads, 30 intersections and a total of 10.67 kilometers of urban public roads.

Baidu has been investing in autonomous driving technology development since 2013 and has been working on China's transportation intelligence and automotive intelligence for several years.

At present, Apollo autonomous driving has spread to 27 cities and obtained 2,900 patents. It has carried out over 7 million kilometers of testing and obtained over 190 autonomous driving test licenses.
