Walmart, the world's largest retailer, said Thursday it will partner with TikTok to sell Walmart's fashion merchandise to customers.

Walmart said in a blogpost that users will be able to buy fashion items recommended by the anchor directly on the TikTok platform. In the U.S., TikTok has 100 million monthly users.

This first-of-its-kind livestream shopping experience will take place this Friday, December 18 at 8 p.m. EST on the Walmart profile page on TikTok.

Walmart will be showcasing a mix of national brands, like Champion, Jordache, Kendall + Kylie and some of our own private brands, including Free Assembly, Scoop and Sofia Jeans.

"It gives us a new way to engage with users and reach potential new customers while bringing our own brand of fun – with the help of fashion-loving TikTok creators – to the platform," said William White, Chief Marketing Officer, Walmart U.S.

Walmart is planning to invest in TikTok, which will help the company attract a younger audience and compete with Amazon in the e-commerce and online advertising space.

During Covid-19, Walmart's online sales increased significantly as consumers turned more to online shopping.
