China's October cell phone production down 10.7% year-on-year, while laptop production up 50.2%

China's cell phone production fell 10.7% year-on-year in October, with smartphone production down 5.4% year-on-year, according to data released today by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

From January to October, China's value-added of the electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size increased by 6.9% year-on-year, down 1.9 percentage points year-on-year.

In October, the value-added of the electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size increased by 5.0%, down 3.2 percentage points year-on-year.

In the communications equipment manufacturing industry, the value of export delivery in October fell by 2.2% year-over-year.

In the computer manufacturing industry, the value of export delivery in October increased by 8.7% year-over-year. Among the major products, the production of microcomputer equipment increased by 28.0% year-on-year, of which the production of notebook computers increased by 50.2% year-on-year.

From January to October, the value of export delivery of the above-scale electronic information manufacturing industry increased by 4.3% year-on-year, accelerating by 2.6 percentage points.

In October, the value of export delivery of above-scale electronic information manufacturing industry increased by 6.6% year-on-year, with a growth rate of 9.8 percentage points year-on-year.
