Tesla said today that it is adjusting its 8GB embedded multimedia memory card (eMMC) warranty from four years or 80,000 km, whichever comes first, to eight years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first, for Model S and Model X manufactured before March 2018.
The warranty program indicates that the 8GB eMMC may fail due to accumulated wear and tear. If a failure occurs, it may result in a black screen or display interruption of the MCU, which may trigger a memory storage device degradation alert, prompting the owner to contact the service team.

The warranty indicates that consumers who have paid for repairs to the 8GBeMMC failures described in this plan prior to the release of the warranty adjustment plan may be eligible for a refund under certain terms and conditions.
Tesla will send a notice to the consumer within 90 days detailing the eligibility, terms and conditions, and steps to apply for a refund.
Tesla advises that after 10 calendar days from the date of the notice, no refunds can be claimed for any repairs made to the above components at a service provider that is not an official Tesla service provider.
