Huawei officially launches HMS Core 5.0 to open five root service engines

At the Huawei Developer Conference 2020 in Dongguan today, Zhang Ping'an, president of Huawei Consumer Business Cloud Services, announced the global release of HMS Core 5.0, which will open up five root engines, including the mapping engine, search engine, and payment engine.

HMS Core 5.0 adds six new service capabilities including audio, video, image, graphics engine, computer graphics, and augmented reality engine, as well as enhanced location services and push services.

Zhang said HMS Core 5.0 opens up not only the capabilities of the cloud, but also software, hardware, and chip accumulation, as well as applications in the fields of graphics, artificial intelligence, media, security, systems, and hardware devices.

Last year, HMS had 14 kits and 885 APIs, while this year it has reached 56 kits and 12,981 APIs, Zhang said.

Last year, Huawei's registered developers were 910,000, and this year it has reached 1.8 million, and the number of integrated HMS Core applications has grown from 43,000 to 96,000.

HMS phones come with Huawei's software pre-installed with HMS Core, he added, adding that Huawei's application marketplace is already the top 3 in the world with 700 million users worldwide.

Sales of HMS phones have started to grow overseas since May this year, indicating that overseas users have embraced the HMS ecosystem and accepted HMS phones, he added.
