In the second quarter of this year, Chinese smartphone makers accounted for 73.3 percent of the Indonesian smartphone market, according to a report by market research firm CounterPoint Research.
Vivo was in first place with 21.2 percent market share and OPPO is in second place with 20.6 percent market share. They were followed by Samsung (19.6 percent), Xiaomi (17.9 percent), and Realme (13.6 percent).
In the second quarter of last year, the top smartphone market share in Indonesia was held by Samsung. However, in the second quarter of this year, Samsung's share declined, while Vivo and Realme saw significant growth.

The major catalyst in Vivo’s success is its aggressive pricing strategy and big demand from the low mid-end segment and Tier 2, the report said.
Vivo’s smartphone models such as the Y12, Y91C, and Y50 were among the top contributors to its market share. Vivo is strong in the offline segment.

OPPO is not much behind Vivo, having stimulated the market with its A series of smartphones, according to the report.
"Xiaomi emerged as the leader in online channel sales with a 40% share. Its Redmi 8A was the top model for online channel sales, followed by Realme 5i and Redmi Note 8 series," CounterPoint Associate Director Tarun Pathak said.
Realme took second place in online channel sales with a 33% share. Samsung took the third place with a 10% market share, its Galaxy A10s, A10 and A50 being among the top contributors, Pathak said.
