Chinese consumer electronics company Coolpad today introduced the Xview, the first wireless all-in-one AR goggle in China.
The Coolpad Xview is the first product of its kind designed with a wearable chip that is 38 percent smaller than comparable processors and consumes 50 percent less power, according to Coolpad product chief Yang Longsheng.
It's equipped with light waveguide technology that achieves industry-leading light transmission, contrast, and color, Coolpad said.
In terms of interaction, Coolpad set up a joint lab with Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, which took five years to implement core algorithms for high-precision fusion positioning, spatial tagging, target recognition and tracking on the wearable chip, achieving a perfect blend of virtual and reality.
Coolpad launched two models of the AR glasses, with the consumer version focusing on lightweight AR applications, including AR navigation, AR shopping guide, AR communication, AR control, and other functions. Users can wear them alone or connect to their phone via Bluetooth.
There's also an industry edition, which for the first time integrates 4G communications within the product, and the company plans to fully support 5G as early as next year.
The Coolpad Xview consumer edition is priced at 2,999 yuan ($428).
