Chengdu signs strategic partnership with Baidu Apollo, local residents expected to ride in unmanned taxis-CnTechPost

Baidu Apollo and Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone will jointly promote the construction of the first smart driving benchmark project in Sichuan Province.

The project will launch automated driving services, including Robotaxi, to the public, accelerating the formation of an intelligent driving ecosystem in western China.

The Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone smart driving project will be jointly promoted by Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone and Baidu Apollo, and the first phase of the project will be a vehicle-road coordination smart infrastructure construction in the main roads and side roads of Chengdu 5G Smart City, as well as the closed-loop lines from Line 1 Guangdu Station of the metro to the Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center and the Smart Medical Center.

After completion of the project, trial operation of Robotaxi and other automated vehicles will be carried out to provide the public with various types of automated vehicle operation services, such as human transfer and station delivery.

Fang Cunhao, member of the Standing Committee of the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the CPC and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Chengdu High-tech Zone, said:

We hope that this cooperation will help Baidu to build a better and more efficient road network. Make full use of the industry's advantageous resources and influence to drive related industries in the intelligent driving field to gather in Chengdu and further deepen cooperation with the city.

Working together to build a smart driving industry ecology. Chengdu will continue to provide Baidu with good elemental support and high-quality government services, and jointly promote the rapid development of the project in Chengdu.
