China Unicom Beijing branch recently conducted a successful test of 5G and satellite Internet convergence with Galaxy Space, which is the first time China has completed the test verification of the opening of a 5G base station via a low orbit satellite Internet link.
China Unicom said it will promote deeper integration of 5G and satellite Internet, and in the future, 5G network signals will not only cover cities, villages, deserts, hills and mountains, but also the ocean and sky.
On June 6, China Unicom and Galaxy Space held a press conference in Beijing to demonstrate the low orbit satellite - 5G convergence service based on Mobile Edge Computing (MEC).
The two sides said they will continue to explore key technologies and business applications for the convergence of low-orbit satellites and 5G networks.
