Samsung may not choose to work with Huawei in the end, i.e. Samsung may find it difficult to produce chips for Huawei's phones, according to DigiTimes.
A year after the U.S. placed Huawei on its "Entity List" the U.S. government is again escalating sanctions in an attempt to cut off Huawei's chip supply altogether by revising direct product rules.
Since then, TSMC has had no special treatment for Huawei orders, and it is feared that it will be difficult to continue working for Huawei after the 100-day temporary license has expired.
Samsung seems to be a little more obvious about this than the cautiousness on TSMC's part.
Previously reported, Samsung has joined forces with Japanese and European equipment manufacturers to build a small 7-nanometer chip production line that does not rely on U.S. equipment, in order to attract customers.
Last week, it was reported that Huawei was discussing with Samsung on-chip foundry matters, said Huawei want to global smartphone market share in exchange for foundry places.
